A Challenge

Going off of the Hurtful Words post...
I have been thinking about these blog comments a lot these past few days and I think I know how to say what I've been trying to sort out in my head.
Like most of us have been saying, we all slip up and say hurtful things. We have all heard it is wrong to talk about people behind their backs, but all of us have done it. But my thing is, we shouldn't. I mean, of course, if you do catch yourself talking bad about someone, you should defiantely go apologize. But we should all really try not to talk behind people's backs at all. It's a really hard thing not to do, since we have grown up with that being "normal" and accepted. But I think we should all challenge each other to Stop talking behind people's backs, and if you do slip up, try to catch yourself immediately and apologize.
Just recently I slipped up and was saying not nice things about one of my really good friends and teammates. I didn't mean what I was saying or agree with the things the people around me were saying, but I guess I just got caught up in the caddy girl drama gossip and didn't step up and say Hey, stop, she's our friend. A few days later my teammate and I talked and I apologized and explained to her what happened; everything is fine now, but I wish I would have tried harder to stop the harmful words before they started.
