Gay Marriage
It is completely ridiculous to me that gay marriage is illegal in most states. If you ask me, love is love man. It seems like in this day and age we've come so far in so many ways but with this issue our laws are so stuck in the past. I understand that in some religions marriage is a bond that is to be made specifically between a man and a woman, but the thing about America is that we all have the right be believe in what we choose too. The beliefs of certain religions shouldn't affect our laws. Marriage isn't simply about religion or the relationship...if it was I don't think it would be so important to everyone, especially people who aren't religious. However, when you consider the financial security and economic potential that come with being married it makes things a bit different. Marraige gives people certain freedoms and responsibilities from a legal perspective that shouldn't be denied to gays and lesbians. In todays society marraige is recognized as a way of economic advancement and protection. What gives anyone the right to prevent people from seeking something that is so highly valued by our society?
