New topic Animal connections

Hey everyone i was wondering what your opinoins were on social interaction with animals. Lots of people say they feel strong connections to their pets and i figure survey calss is a good place to figure out why. What brought this up in my head was my new squirel friend i found this weekend. My friends and i were sitting out side my friends house when a squirel came up to us and was being unusually friendly. We found out that we were able to pet the squirel and eventually found we could pick it up and hold it. This freaked us out, we couldn't believe that this animal was being so friendly to us. I wonder what makes some animals social and others run away. I have had a few pets in my past that i loved and i was sad to lose. I wonder how complex the brain of a squirel is. Can a squirel feel like a human is its friend? I am not a pet person but i wonder how close one can feel to an animal. I also wanted to mention this because i tamed a wild squirel which is amazing i think haha. Anyway i was wondering what all of you thought about pets and stuff.
