First of all... anyone who has not watched Planet Unicorn yet Really needs to, it's hilarious. Just go on youtube and type in planet unicorn... the fourth episode is, in my opinion, the best so far.
Anyways, going off of the most recent questions, What does acceptance mean to you and who do you "accept"? Are there certain people you do accept and don't accept?
I think it is really important for all people, especially teenagers, to try their best to accept everyone. In junior high, as we all probably experienced, there are kids who categorize other kids as "cool" and "nerdy", "popular" and an "outcast". But I think as we have gotten older, it feels like we have gotten a little bit better at including many different people. Accepting someone even if they are a basketball player, a computer genius, or a fashion expert is important. We all really need to realize that, as Shrek said, people Are like onions.. we all have so many layers and it isn't fair to judge someone and consider not accepting them just from what you see on the surface. Inside, we all have a little book worm or football star or artistic poetry girl/guy. So, not accepting someone just because they like reading sci fi books, or wear glasses, or can shoot a three point basket every time is Definately not fair and not grown up of us. Teenagers are always complaining that we want to be treated like adults. I think in order for that to happen we all need to start acting like adults, being mature, and respecting as well as accepting each other no matter how different we may be.
Do you guys think over the years our age group, as a whole, has gotten better at accepting and not caring about cliques/stereotypes? Or have we gotten worse; do we still categorize and judge people based on their interests/activities/friends??
